Book meme

Via sollersuk, who got it from alchemyangel351

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

"No, indeed!"

I was shocked - was that the best Georgette could provide in Black Sheep? I decided to ignore point 5 and start excavating the pile of Georgette Heyer books on my desk;

Regency Buck - p123, 5th sentence: He was displeased.

The Corinthian - p123, 5th sentence: "Not at all," said Sir Richard politely.
At this point I started to panic. Georgette Heyer must have written an interesting sentence somewhere in books (in fact, the books are littered with gorgeous lines and humour). This is just selecting them at random.

The Unknown Ajax: "Let me hear no more about it!"

The Grand Sophy - "Did he indeed?" said Sophy appreciatively.

Frederica: "Wellington?"

Friday's Child: "Indeed, I did not know how it would be!"

Arabella: "Becky nodded vigorously, twisting her apron between her fingers." This shows a distinct sign of improvement - perhaps GH was mastering the art of writing a decent fifth sentence for the hundred and twenty third page.

But I had to continue looking until Venetia: "Crusader broke into a trot, and was kept to it, until, rounding a bend in the lane that brought the main gates of the Priory within view, Damerel saw a solitary horseman, walking his horse, and ejeculated: "Damn the boy!"

Confirmed in Convenient Marriage: "Once she knew she had thrown a guard she should have kept, but for the most part she thought she had played well."

Eventually, realizing just how important this single sentence would be, she started to give it some role in character and plot.

And sorry, I didn't follow the instructions, did I?
